It’s good news if you are one of the more than 60,000 Nova Scotians who need a family doctor. Nova Scotia Health says it has hired 10 per cent more doctors in the last fiscal year than it did in 2024. There are 278 new doctors practicing in the province. When departures and retirements are taken into account, the province saw a net gain of 199 new doctors, 12 more than the year before. 40 percent were internationally trained physicians, coming from multiple locations, such as the UK and the U.S. 33 Doctors moved to the province from the United States, up from 12 in 2024.
