Residents are invited to recognize German heritage and history in Nova Scotia as German Settlers Day is observed in the province. A special gathering will take place today at noon at the District of Lunenburg Municipal Services Building in Cookville. German Settlers Day, officially yesterday, honours the contributions of German immigrants who helped shape communities throughout Nova Scotia, particularly along the province’s South Shore. The day recognizes the lasting cultural, economic, and historical impact German settlers had on the region dating back to the 1700s.
