At Tuesday’s Town of Lunenburg Council meeting, increasing electricity rates will be discussed. The proposal suggests individual household rates would increase by 11-point-three per cent and businesses would see a hike of 21 per cent. The town says the increases are necessary to fund much-needed capital investment for the town’s electrical infrastructure. If council approves the rate increases, it is expected they will be sent to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board this summer and the increases will take effect in the fall. Community members interested in learning more are encouraged to attend Tuesday’s council meeting in-person or online.
