The Town of Lunenburg has submitted an application to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board to increase the water rates. The Board has scheduled a public hearing for the application for May 27th. Household customers can expect their bills to increase by $14.46 a quarter, from $170.39 to $184.85. For commercial customers, the proposed 8.9 percent to 12.5 percent increase will depend on service type. The proposed increases must be approved by the Board before they can take effect. If approved, the new rates are expected to take effect in July.
