The Tourism Industry of Nova Scotia has named Bluenose II Captain Phil Watson the recipient of the 2025 Alastair and Frances Campbell Award. The award recognizes outstanding contributions and long-term commitment to tourism in the province. The presentation took place at the annual TIANS conference on Tuesday night. Watson started as a deckhand aboard Bluenose ll in 1987 and moved through the ranks to become an officer. He has now served as skipper for 25 years. In celebrating Captain Watson on social media, Lunenburg MLA Susan Corkum-Greek called him “the salt of the earth, and the ocean too.”
