The province’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting of a person reported to be in possession of a firearm who was linked to another investigation. At around 9:00 Thursday morning, Lunenburg District RCMP were called about a person who had a weapon on Highway 210 near Chelsea. That’s the same area where a person was spotted with a firearm on Wednesday evening. That night, an AlertReady emergency alert advised residents to find a safe space and not to pick up hitchhikers. During Thursday’s investigation, an officer discharged their firearm. The suspect suffered a gunshot wound. No other injuries were reported. Because SIRT is now investigating, the RCMP will not release any other details.
