A Chester Basin man faces nine charges for the alleged sexual assault of youths. The investigation began in mid July when police learned a youth who had been reported missing had been staying at the 38-year-old man's home. During the investigation they found out other youths had also been staying with the man either at his home or on trips. Late last week, investigators searched his home on Croft Road. The man was arrested and electronic devices were seized. Matthew Joseph Mercer faces charges including sexual assault, sexual interference and luring a child. Police believe there may be more victims and anyone who believes they may have been victimized are encouraged to call police. Mercer was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on Thursday.
