The cost of electricity is going to go up in a move by Nova Scotia Power that Premier Tim Houston calls out of touch.  The utility has reached a settlement with customer representatives for an upcoming General Rate Application. Over the next two years electricity rates could rise by 8.2 per cent. If the new rates are approved by the Nova Scotia Energy Board, residents could see rates increase by 4.1 per cent on January 1st, 2026 and a further 4.1 percent in January of 2027. Houston says that after the data breach affecting thousands of residents Nova Scotians still feel betrayed by the company and called on Nova Scotia Power to withdraw or significantly reduce their application.
