Officials from Nova Scotia Power will appear before the province’s Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee Tuesday. PC MLAs summoned the utility to appear before the committee to answer questions about inaccurate billing and a loss of public trust. Kyle MacQuarrie, MLA for Inverness and member of the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee, says the company “has failed to protect the information of Nova Scotians, and now the public has lost trust in the accuracy of their bills.” Nova Scotia Power recently experienced one of the largest data breaches in the province’s history. The company is facing delays in payments to contractors and suppliers, and Nova Scotians are now reaching out with concern for inaccurate smart meter readings, causing inflated bills.
