Canadian athlete Sarah Mitton was eliminated from the Olympic women's shot-put final on Friday, finishing 12th after her three attempts. Mitton, hailing from the South Shore, had led the qualifying round with a throw of 19.77 metres and had previously won silver at last year's world championships. However, her best throw in the final was 17.48 metres, falling short of the leaders. She appeared to have thrown close to 20 metres, but her attempt was disqualified when she lost her balance and stepped out of the ring.

Canadian paddlers Katie Vincent and Nova Scotian Sloan MacKenzie have won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics in the C 2 500 metre event. They finished third behind the silver medalists from Ukraine. This is not the first time the duo has reached the podium, as they also won a bronze medal at the 2023 world championships.
