Farmers are getting some help from the province to gain access to farmland. The Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board will deliver the Program for Accessing Agricultural Land. The three-year pilot project aims to overcome barriers to securing more land through four streams, including a low-cost land leasing option, a second land leasing option that allows farmers to build equity for a future purchase, deferred financing to support farm growth in the early years and startup loans for land, equipment and livestock to help new farmers.
