Nova Scotia is increasing funding for counselling services for victims of crime and their families. The province is making changes to the Criminal Injuries Counselling Program, including increased funding and longer access to care. Survivors of human trafficking will now be able to access $8,235 over three years, up from $2,000 over two years. The program will also be available to victims of gender-based violence and hate crimes. New rates for counsellors will take effect on October 22.
