The province is introducing a new publicly funded mental health insured services program. This means that people with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as addictions, will have access to mental healthcare at no cost in the coming months. The first phase will boost access to non-urgent mental healthcare by publicly funding private-sector professionals to Nova Scotians no matter where they live and regardless of their financial situation. A request for proposals to hire a billing administrator for the program has been issued and the next step will be to identify professionals to administer the program. The $10 million program is expected to be up and going in the spring.
