At its first meeting, Lunenburg town council asked staff to prepare a report on the renaming of Cornwallis Street. The report will provide the new council with a clear understanding of how the renaming process unfolded. A notice of motion made by Councilor Babineau could mean council will consider ending the work on renaming the street at its December 10th meeting. If the motion is approved council will then reevaluate the process and next steps. In October council voted to rename Cornwallis to Queen Street after a 2023 decision to end the process. The decision to rename the street was made after a survey of residents.
