Maritimers are paying more for milk than any other Canadian. Field Agent Canada, which has been tracking milk prices for a decade consistently finds milk prices higher in Atlantic provinces and varying degrees of price from city to city, with Moncton and Charlottetown posting the highest prices. A spokesperson for Field Agent Canada says producing milk in the Atlantic region is more expensive because the farms are smaller. Milk does not flow freely from province to province because each province has different regulations and costing formulas based on a cost-plus model. But with the threat of tariffs from the States, the organization says it's time Canada has a dairy industry that is as efficient as possible.
