Lunenburg Mayor Jamie Myra is offering words of support to the residents of Tumbler Ridge, B.C. The northeastern community of only 2,400 is grieving the deaths of nine residents in a mass shooting at a high school and home on Tuesday. Myra says in a social media post that as a fellow small town, Lunenburg stands with Tumbler Ridge, Myra says residents of Lunenburg hold the residents of Tumbler Ridge in their thoughts and send strength and compassion for the days ahead. Bridgewater Mayor, David Mitchell also posted on social media asking residents to keep the small community in thoughts and prayers as they grieve and try to process the tragedy. Premier Tim Houston also offered Nova Scotians' support.
Meanwhile the RCMP say the suspected shooter killed two family members at home before going to the secondary school where a teacher and five students were killed. The 18-year-old suspect then took their own life. Police say they dropped out of school four years ago and had been involved with police related to mental health.
