A man is in custody after an 83-year-old woman was found dead inside a Bridgewater home from an apparent incident of intimate partner violence. Bridgewater Police Service were called to the home on Haven Drive for a woman in medical distress Saturday morning. An elderly woman was found inside, suffering from an injury that appeared to be caused by an assault with a weapon. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An elderly man was found with injuries inside another room. Police say the pair were in a long-term relationship, and there were no prior reports of intimate partner violence between them. The 85-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Andrew Tanner faces a charge of first degree murder. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner will be performing an autopsy. There is no threat to public safety. Anyone with any information should call the Bridgewater Police Service.
