Lunenburg town council has opted into a new program for recycling. The Circular Services Model shifts responsibility for recycling plastic and paper packaging from the municipality to the producers who create them. For residents, recycling will look the same at the curb. Blue-bag collection will continue on the regular schedule, and the Town will continue to manage customer service during the transition period. Over time, Circular Materials will take on greater responsibility for the province-wide recycling system. Opting in to the new program allows the Town to continue running curbside recycling during the transition while receiving compensation from Circular Materials to cover residential collection costs.
