The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg Council has pre-approved $2 million to make improvements at Sawpit Wharf Park, including a new wharf structure and other waterfront improvements in 2026. The wharf was closed earlier this fall because of structural concerns. The safety concerns posed by the structural assessment led council to pre-approve the funding. In June 2024 council had approved a concept plan worth $4 million dollars over several years for improvements.
