Improvements to cellular phone service in rural areas coming

The Nova Scotia government is spending an additional $18.6 million to improve cellular phone service in rural areas. They plan to add 27 new telecommunication towers in unserved parts of the province. Last year, the government allocated $47.3 million to connect civic addresses and primary roads with spotty cellular service. Rogers has been chosen to upgrade existing tower sites. The government aims to improve cellular connectivity after rural residents experienced a lack of emergency alerts during natural disasters.
