Premier Tim Houston is reversing the decision to change the way the province’s Auditor General’s office works. Houston says he understands proposed changes came out of a study on how to modernize the office. Houston says after discussion with the Auditor general and her team he is not supporting the changes to the legislation and has asked the Legislature to withdraw them. The changes would have allowed the legislature to fire the Auditor General without cause and given the attorney general powers to seal reports and keep them from the public.
