The province’s Department of Agriculture says it is working to help farmers in Nova Scotia who are struggling with drought conditions. According to Greg Morrow the Minister of Agriculture the lack of rain means the conditions are not getting better. He has asked staff to collaborate with the federation, Perennia, the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission and the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board to organize outreach sessions across the province to ensure farmers have access to the right people to ask questions about existing support programs. He has also asked them to reach out to the federal government to identify options for immediate assistance through existing business risk management programs, as well as other support that may be available.
