Drought conditions continue in Atlantic Canada. According to the Canadian Drought Monitor, Lunenburg County experienced extreme drought conditions in September. Most of Nova Scotia, eastern Labrador, and parts of eastern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island received less than 40 per of normal precipitation, while much of New Brunswick and western Newfoundland saw less than 60 per cent. The dry conditions forced some municipalities to enforce mandatory water conservation measures, while others asked residents to voluntarily reduce water consumption. The dry weather significantly reduced yields for apples, corn, silage, beans, carrots, and blueberries, pumpkins and potatoes.
