A six-year-old boy remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in downtown Halifax. Police say he was found suffering from multiple stab wounds in the 1900 block of Barrington Street Sunday afternoon. The child was with his parents at the time. A 19-year-old woman was found and was originally charged with aggravated assault, but those charges have been upgraded to attempted murder. Police don’t believe the two were known to each other and do not consider it a hate crime. Premier Tim Houston posted on X that he was struggling to express his outrage and sadness over the attack. Houston expressed his concern for the victim and family and said the “person who did this is clearly a threat to public safety and should be kept locked behind bars.” The suspect, 19-year-old Elliott Chorny has a court appearance Monday.
