With court backlogs and bail reform top of mind across Canada, Nova Scotia has a new dedicated bail court. It’s in Halifax on Spring Garden Road and is currently hearing cases from Halifax. It’s expected that other districts will be added over the next several months. Danielle Barkhouse, the MLA for Chester – St. Margaret’s says the new bail court will make the justice system more efficient, allowing judges to focus on reducing court backlogs. Efficient courts mean timely trials, fairer hearings, and stronger confidence in justice.
