Developers who include affordable units in new housing projects may soon be receiving a tax credit. Lunenburg town council is expected to approve the Affordable Housing Tax Relief Policy at its next meeting. , The policy will offer a 10-year, step-down property tax credit on the portion of taxes linked to the affordable units. That means a 90 per cent relief in years one and two, gradually decreasing to 30 per cent in years nine and ten. To qualify, projects must include at least three affordable units.
