Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Turn Off Power at the Circuit Breaker

Locate your home’s electrical panel and turn off the breaker that controls the light switch. Use a voltage tester to ensure no power is running to the switch.

2. Remove the Old Switch

• Unscrew the switch cover plate using a screwdriver.
• Unscrew the switch from the electrical box and gently pull it out.
• Use a voltage tester again to confirm there is no live current.
• Take note of the wiring configuration (taking a picture can help).
• Disconnect the wires from the old switch by loosening the screws.

3. Install the New Light Switch

• Connect the wires to the new switch:
  • The black (hot) wire connects to the brass or black screw.
  • The white (neutral) wire connects to the silver screw.
  • The ground wire (bare or green) connects to the green screw.
• Tighten the screws securely.
• Push the switch back into the electrical box and screw it into place.

4. Test the Installation

• Turn the power back on at the breaker.
• Flip the switch to ensure the light works properly.
• If the light doesn’t turn on, turn off the power again and double-check your connections.
