Are you prepared for an emergency? Is your community prepared

Join the Lunenburg County Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO) for Emergency Preparedness Week (EPW) from May 4 to 10, 2025, and help our communities become better prepared to face an emergency while promoting your services and products at the same time!

The aim of our Emergency Preparedness Week campaign is to engage residents in a variety of ways to encourage their personal emergency preparedness.

We have a 5100W King Generator provided by Castle Building Supplies in Blockhouse and Chester to give away to a lucky resident after the campaign.

How to get your name in the draw. Multiple ballots are allowed. 

• Come to the kick-off on Saturday, May 3, at Castle Building Supplies in Chester, between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The Chester Fire Department will be in attendance, offering a BBQ.

• Create a household, pet, or vehicle emergency kit or to-go bag. If you need help to determine what goes in the kit, visit our website for ideas:

  • Pets: Protect Your Pet

  • Vehicle: Emergency vehicle kit

  • Household: Build/Get a Kit

  • Seniors or Those with Special Needs: Emergency Preparedness for Seniors or Those with Special Health Needs

• Make your Household Plan and share it with all members of your household. For ideas of what goes in your plan, or to print/access pdf Make a Plan (1.08 MB).

You must be a resident of Lunenburg County to win

Here’s how you can get a ballot into the draw:

1. Visit REMO at one of the community events between now and May 11, 2025.

   • We will be at Castle Building Supplies in Chester on Saturday, May 3, from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, and can share a photo of your plans or kits with us.

   • Community Connections Day, Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre, 135 North Park Street, Bridgewater.

   • Visit either Castle Building Supplies in Blockhouse or Chester to enter your name in their ballot box while shopping.

2. Throughout the campaign, watch the Lunenburg REMO Facebook page, and you can post a photo of your Kits or Plans. If posting an image of your household plan, remove any personal identifying information.

1. You could enter the draw in multiple ways:

   1. Posting a photo on LunenburgREMO of your household emergency kit

   2. Posting a photo on LunenburgREMO of your vehicle's emergency kit

   3. Posting a photo on LunenburgREMO of your pet emergency kit

   4. Posting a photo on LunenburgREMO of your emergency household plan

   5. Visit Lunenburg REMO at Castle Building Supplies in Chester on Saturday, May 3, from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon.

   6. Attend Community Connections and bring in a photo of one of your kits

   7. Attend Community Connections and bring in a photo of your emergency plan, and remove any personal identifying information. 

   8. While shopping at Castle Building Supplies in Blockhouse or Chester, enter your name in one of the ballot boxes.

   9. Listen to Go Rock Radio at 107.9 FM for contests to win.

You determine the level of participation, whether it is creating your household emergency plan and showing us, or if you create a variety of emergency kits and post them all, you decide how many ballots you gain.
