New legislation is now in effect that requires workers injured on the job and employers to work together for a timely and safe return to work. The legislation is known as the Duty to Co-operate and is part of the Stronger Workplaces for Nova Scotia Act. Employers must offer meaningful accommodations, and employees must participate in planning for a safe return. Nova Scotia has the lowest return-to-work rates in the country.
