RCMP Arrest Two in Chester

Two people face charges, and an RCMP officer received minor injuries after an incident in Chester. Police say they were called to a parking lot on Highway 3 just before 9:00 in the morning for a possible impaired driver. An officer approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver, who was showing signs of being impaired. The driver started the vehicle and sped off at a high rate of speed, dragging the officer into a police vehicle. The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver tried to get away but hit another vehicle, missed a turn from Highway 14 onto Highway 103, and crashed into a guardrail. The driver and passenger tried to run before being arrested. A 37-year-old man from Stonehurst faces five charges, and a 26-year-old woman from Lunenburg faces a charge of resisting arrest.
