Tim Houston is encouraging Nova Scotia’s 30,000 small businesses to register to bid on provincial government contracts. The premier has sent a letter introducing a new Treasury and Policy Board directive that gives Nova Scotia businesses a 10 per cent advantage when bidding on public sector contracts. It’s part of the province’s Nova Scotia Local procurement policy. According to government data, between January and March, 809 Nova Scotia suppliers were awarded contracts valued at more than $80 million. Small businesses are encouraged to register with the Tender Opportunities Notification Service to learn about opportunities that match their business.
