Organ Donation Opt-In

The director of the Canadian Transplant Association in Newfoundland and Labrador wants the province to follow Nova Scotia’s lead. Instead of an opt-in option for transplant donation, he wants an opt-out program. Jonathan Hickman told CBC News, residents currently have to opt in to donate organs. In Nova Scotia, donors have increased since it adopted a presumed consent law where every resident is considered a donor unless they say otherwise.
