The sale of the Old Train Station to the Second Story Women’s Shelter will be on the agenda of the August 19thLunenburg town council meeting. The sale would be set at a price below market value in recognition of the benefit the centre provides to the town. The Second Story Women’s Centre is looking for a long-term, permanent location and has proposed to the town that they buy the municipally owned property it has been leasing. The situation and opportunity are the motivating factor for this proposed sale. Second Story Women’s Centre, being a non-profit, means that this sale would not require the process of putting out a RFP, as the Town has no interest in selling 18 Dufferin Street to a private developer.
