Nova Scotia Power says hackers behind the cybersecurity breach also got hold of the personal information of former customers. The utility is now offering five years of credit monitoring to all of its customers, whether their information was stolen or not. Personal information such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers may have been compromised, but it may also include bank account numbers and Social Insurance Numbers. Customers who have already signed up for credit monitoring will have it extended to five years automatically. Those wishing to sign up can find the link on Nova Scotia Power’s website. The company says it has a dedicated team working with cybersecurity experts to investigate the attack. Customers who sign up for credit monitoring will receive the service for free.
