Nova Scotia Power in Court

Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:34 AM

A two-year-old fine against Nova Scotia Power is being fought in court. The $10 million fine was levied against the utility by the province for failing to meet a renewable energy target. Lawyers for the company will argue all week that Nova Scotia Power should not be held accountable for the failure because it did all it could to meet the target. The Nova Scotia Energy Board will hear the argument that the utility could not meet the target of generating 40 per cent of electricity from renewable energy because of delays at the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project in Labrador.
