Nova Scotia Power’s CEO believes approximately 140,000 social insurance numbers have been stolen in the ransomware attack. Cyber thieves hacked into the utility's servers in May, stealing the personal information of 280,000 customers. The CEO estimates that half of the people’s information breaches involved stolen SIN numbers. Earlier this month the company confirmed that the hackers were publishing the stolen information to the web.
