For the first time, an invasive species of fish has been found in Nova Scotia. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada says the fish, called the pond loach or Oriental Weatherfish was found in Morgan Falls last month. The agency says the fish is found in East Asia and likely found its way into the waterway when it was released from an aquarium. Invasive species can harm the native ecosystem and give extra competition for food sources to other species.
