It will come as no surprise to anyone who drives in Halifax. The 2025 traffic index by TomTom ranks Halifax as the third most congested city during rush hour and travel time. The mapmaking company based in Amsterdam says Halifax drivers spend 83 hours a year in rush hour traffic. It takes Halifax drivers an average of 24 minutes to drive 10 kilometres. Only Toronto and Vancouver ranked above the city, and no other Maritime cities made the list.
